Jack Orden is a wonderful character. I loved walking his journey with him.
This book has everything love, hate, loss, humour, horror. Each chapter leaves you desperately needing to read the next one.
Make sure you set aside time. Once you start, you won't be able to put it down!

The world building was done really well! I enjoyed the little details such as eye colors being from different parts of this world. I loved the histories that went with each kingdom. I was enamored of Jack from the beginning, and of course Bailey, the faithful, trusty sidekick.
 

This book is fast-paced so hold on! There's lots of action; chases, sword fights, brave escapes, and near misses. It was beautiful!
 

I was very emotionally invested and cried in a few places. Be prepared for that. Loved this book so much and will read it over and over again.

I was captivated by this story from the beginning.  It reels you in slowly allowing the character of the main players to evolve until they become familiar. And I too fell in love with Jack. I love books where your imagination is encouraged to create its own illustrations. Abi allows that here. Over and over again.
 

The plot gains pace with so many unexpected twists and turns until you simply can’t put it down!!!  And I didn't.  It is hard to believe that this book was initially written when the author was in her teens.  The story is beautifully crafted and delivered with pace. Her characters catch you by surprise as they are not quite what they seem. I can say no more!
 

What on Earth do I read now?  I am really looking forward to your next installment.
